High-Performing Conveyor Seals

MECO has introduced the HB model, a new generation of high-performing standard-sized seals for screw conveyors and similar equipment. These seals have many of the design features used in MECO’s custom shaft units, but will be in stock as of summer 2009 in five CEMA and seven metric shaft sizes: from 1 1/2” to 3 7/16” and from 40mm to 90mm. HB seals are designed to perform under 90% of the typical operating conditions associated with screw conveyors or scrolls. This includes food-grade applications, temperatures up to 500 F (260 C), abrasive products and vertical or inclined conveyors. The HB accommodates up to 1/4” (6mm) of shaft run-out.

Webster Instruments’ FlowHUB, product for hydraulic system designers and maintenance engineers can replace up to six discreet hydraulic components, saving both installation time and total component cost. This innovative new product can measure, display, signal alarm conditions and transmit flow readings to PLC or data acquisition systems, as well as measure and display temperature in fluid power or lubrication circuits. According to the manufacturer, the FlowHUB’s novel, robust design minimizes energy loss from pressure drop, even in heavy-duty services.
